Years of experience: 25+Carlos Goveo is board certified in security management by the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) as a Certified Protection Professional, (CPP). He is also a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and a Certified Threat Manager, (CTM). Additionally , he is a Certified Project Management Professional, (PMP) a Certified Information Security Manager, (CISM) and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, (CISSP). He has a Master's degree in Administration from Central Michigan University and is a FEMA Level I Professional Continuity Practitioner.
He is a retired Army Officer. He served for 21 years and had the opportunity to work at different levels from small units to regional commands while leading complex multi-national efforts. Goveo worked at several US embassies around the world with duties comprising of contract management, auditing security programs, safety, physical security, personal security, travel security, managing classified information, information security, anti-terrorism, and risk management. Additionally, he served at the highest levels of government diplomacy in several countries such as Colombia, Haiti, Qatar, and Peru. He also served in leadership positions during two successful combat tours in Iraq in 2003 and 2005. Goveo began his Army career in the Army Reserves where he served for three years as a Military Police Officer.
Currently a Regional Security Manager - Implements strategic security operational programs, policies, and procedures for a multi-site regional level environment.
As a Global Security Manager – Corporate Services for a Fortune 500 company, he has audited and implemented crisis management and life safety programs. He has developed workplace violence and security awareness training programs and has evaluated and managed several contract security programs. He has experience developing policies, procedures, and training to improve performance of security programs. Additionally, he develops and reviews key performance indicators and service level agreements to increase quality and attain the highest level of security management excellence. He has experience developing operating procedures and policies for Global Security Operations Centers (GSOCs) and Tactical Operations Centers (TOCs).
As a Security Operations Director, he managed the security program for the Corporate Headquarters of a multinational company with a high net-worth CEO. Duties encompassed managing a security team that provided residential protective coverage for multiple locations, secure transportation operations, event security, command center operations, threat assessment and management, and managed the security program for the corporate site. Additionally, he advised the C-level executives on all related security matters including background investigations, terminations, security upgrades, travel planning and logistics, visitor management, protection of intellectual property, information security, confidentiality, and emergency preparedness. Conducted numerous executive protection details in Los Angeles, Mexico, and Peru.
His practice areas include Security Management Consulting, Policy and Procedure Development, Training, Security Risk Assessments, Physical Penetration Testing, Workplace Violence, and Active Shooter Training.
